Additional Staff

The camps will be staffed by well qualified college and professional coaches and players who have been selected based not only on their knowledge of the each group will be coached by a qualified college or professional coach and a college player serving as the assistant coach.

PAUL HARBIN, DIRECTOR

2003 Conference USA Coach of the Year


Coach Paul Harbin completed his twelfth season at the helm of the UAB Women’s Soccer Program this year after starting the program in 1996. The UAB women's soccer team have finished three of the past five seasons as Conference USA champions. The Blazers have advanced to the NCAA Tournament in two of the last three seasons.


In the twelve seasons of competition, the Blazers have produced nine Academic All-Americans, twenty one Regional Academic All-Americans, eleven Regional All-Americans, 49 All-Conference players, one Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, one Conference USA Freshman of the Year, three Conference USA Scholar Athletes of the Year and two Rhodes Scholar Nominees. They Blazers have been consistently ranked in the Regional Top 10, playing many of the nation's top teams.


Prior to being named UAB’s first women’s coach, Harbin served as an assistant with the UAB men’s soccer team for two seasons (1994, 1995). He helped guide the Blazers to two conference championships and an NCAA Tournament appearance.


Prior to his arrival at UAB, Coach Harbin served as the Women’s Soccer Coach at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia for four seasons. During that period, his teams were consistently ranked among the top NCAA Division I teams in the South Region. In 1992, he was nominated for the NCAA Women’s South Region Coach of the Year.


Coach Harbin was appointed the U.S. Soccer Federation South Region Women’s Select Team Coach in the Spring of 1998. He has been a member of the coaching staff for the Alabama Olympic Development program and the ODP South Region staff. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Sports Psychology from Columbia University.


Coach Harbin and his wife, Mo, reside in Birmingham. They have three children, Jessica, Anna and Andrew.
